Gather at the hotel lobby, Departure for a sightseeing trip to the ancient temples in central zone inside the city wall by Bicycle / Golf Cart.

  • Wat Mahathat, the temple with Sukhothai characteristic lotus bud shaped
    stupa. It is the most important and biggest temple situated as the center of
    the kingdom built in the concept of center of the universe according to
    Buddhist cosmology.
  • Wat Si Sawai, the temple with outstanding structure influenced by Khmer
    architecture.
  • Wat Sa Sri, surrounded by water built on manmade island with Sri Lankan
    styled stupa.
  • Monument of King Ramkhamhaeng.

Sightseeing the northern area outside the city wall

  • Wat Si Chum located to the northwest outside the city wall where the revered
    “Phra Achana” Buddha image situated. The Buddha image is very well known
    for its massive size and intriguing stuccowork that represents Buddhist art of
    serene Sukhothai Buddha image.
  • Wat Phrapai Luang, the temple complex assumed to be the former center of
    the town.
  • Tao Tu Riang or Sangkhalok kilns, Sangkhalok refers to Sukhothai traditional
    pottery which was widely produced from 14th century. This area is found with
    more than 50 kilns scattering around. This indicates that Sukhothai pottery
    was once an industrial activity.
  • Hall of Buddha Siri Mara Wichai is where Sukhothai period bronze Buddha
    image enshrined. Buddha image shows the authentic bronze casting artwork
    of Sukhothai school of Buddhist arts that conveys the skillful craftmanship and
    graceful character of Buddha image.

Visit Ramkhamhaeng National Museum to see the masterpieces of artifacts
discovered during the excavation in historic sites.

Sightseeing the southern area outside the city wall
  • Wat Chetupon : The temple is outstanding by slate stone structures e.g. door
    frames, window frames and balustrade. As well, one of the remarkable
    features is the remain of four-posture Buddha images.
  • Wat Chedi Si Hong: The main stupa is decorated by stucco sculptures of lions,
    elephants and Naga King at the base in the style of Sri Lankan Buddhist arts.

Sightseeing the forestry area in the western zone
  • Wat Saphan Hin: The temple is located on top of the hill and can be reached
    by walking up on 300-meter-long stone pavement. The main structure is the
    hall of 9-meter standing Buddha image which can be seen from the foothill.
    Buddha image is believed to be well respected by King Ramkhamhaeng the
    Great as it is recorded in stone inscription that the king visited this temple
    every Buddhist holy day to pay respect to the image.
  • Phra Ruang earthen dike or Saridpong: It is the ancient reservoir mentioned in
    stone inscription and still useable at the present. It shows the wisdom of
    irrigation system in the past.
